The film opened in the United States on March 24. The film earned an estimated US$84,234,169 in the United States and a worldwide total of about US$140 million. Screen Rant noted that, while the weak box office total seemed to preclude the possibility of a sequel, the toy sales for the franchise helped.
The film will open in Japan on Saturday.
Saban Entertainment founder Haim Saban said in an interview with Variety in March that there is a "six-movie story arc" planned for the franchise if the film is successful.
